About
Who We Are: flavor a deux consists of Kelly Spitzer, a writer living in the Pacific Northwest, and her father, Dan Spitzer, an attorney in southwestern Colorado. Although neither are professionally trained chefs, they share a robust interest in food, wine, and living well.
Dan is the wine guru, and the host of Uncorked and Decanted. Stop by his column for tastings, pairings, recommendations, and articles on the subject. He is also the more inclusive eater. He eats everything. Well, okay, he doesn’t care for pickled herring or pickled beets.
Kelly has two general rules: no mayonnaise and no red meat. Not due to any diet restrictions, but because she vehemently dislikes the taste. Her husband has a limited tolerance for seafood, so much of their diet consists of chicken, pork, pasta, greens or grains. She has a special affection for eggplant. Several years ago, they started salad night, where at least once a week, they eat predominately veggies as their main dish. It’s not as boring as you may think, so stop by Kelly’s column, Salad Night, for a peek. Also, browse The Pizza Experiment, for her quest to make killer homemade pizza.
Between the two of them, they hope to give you a wide variety of culinary experiences. And since neither are rich, most of the recipes you will find here will be everyday affordable.
Welcome, thank you for stopping by, and enjoy!
